Power line Protection
Damaging transient overvoltage that penetrates into the building's power distribution system can be caused by direct or indirect effects of lightning, supply faults or switching events of other heavy loads. A suitable protector should be installed between the source of threat and the protected equipment.
LEPS has two types of power line surge protector, surge diverter and surge filter , with different surge rating to choose.
Surge diverters are shunt connected protectors which provide instant lightning energy diversion to ground at the point of entry to a building. While they are suitable for the protection of most equipment and are irrespective to the load current of the protected equipment, but can be affected by installation conditions.
Surge filters are connected in series with the critical load which have unsurpassed performance in surges and transients filtering. They have a much lower let-through voltage than surge diverters and thus can be used to protect the most sensitive electronic equipment. But the load current need to be taken into account.
